The Kumbuk & Wewa Story

Built of Earth, Cooled by the Breeze, Welcomed by the Village.

Tucked within the tranquil village of Kumbukanda Handiya near Mahailluppallama Wewa in Anuradhapura's agricultural heartland, Kumbuk & Wewa was created to celebrate true Sri Lankan village tourism.

The entire retreat is hand-crafted from natural clay walls painted in soft cream, naturally insulating the interior from the tropical heat. Accented with handcrafted local teak and jackfruit wood furnishings, shaded verandas, and views stretching across emerald paddy fields, every moment brings you closer to nature.

“Stay in a traditional earthen clay home. Sip fragrant herbal tea beneath the ancient Kumbuk tree, and experience the blessing of village temple chants and .”
Our Guiding Philosophy

“Gamai • Pansalai • Wawai • Dagabai”

Mahailluppalama Wewa's serene mirror waters, freshwater breeze cooling the clay cottages, kingfishers, and sunset strolls along the ancient bund.
